New WSCS Bible Study

WSCS will be continuing a new Bible Study that started on January 7, 2019. The study will be “Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven” by David Jeremiah. There are eleven chapters in the Study Guide accompanied by a CD set for the group. If you are interested in joining this study, please sign up on the sheet at the Welcome Center. Contact Mary Kitner (582-2665) or Irene Wray (979-0879) for more information.
“Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven will answer and clarify the most important questions Christians have about their future eternal home. Pastor David Jeremiah provides answers to questions about the nature of heaven, the kinds of bodies heaven’s occupants will have, why heaven will never be boring, why infants and small children will go to heaven, and the dwelling place God is preparing for Christians in heaven. Answers to those questions and more – 11 critical issues in all – are revealed.

WPFG:

Mt. Gilead was approached a few month ago and asked to be a new site for the WPFG 91.3 radios antenna (transmitter) which would strengthen their signal over the mountains to Perry County. The transmitter is installed and is now operational. By allowing the station to install their equipment in our church, they have waived the church Affiliates fees which offers the use of advertising on their station for free.
WPFG 91.3 Mission Statement
To glorify God through:
• Encouragement of believers and non-believers alike through music and programming that uplifts the name of Jesus Christ
•Excellence in Christian Broadcasting
•Services provided for the Christian Community in support of the local church.

MT. GILEAD’s 150th Anniversary Celebration

Mt. Gilead will be turning 150 year old next year. If you would like to take part in planning our Sesquicentennial celebration, please see Pastor Dennis or Ruth Lightner.

The next planning meeting will be held on:
Monday, November 4th at 7:30PM

150TH ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL PORCH
In honor of the church's 150th anniversary to be celebrated in 2020, we are rebuilding the side porch exiting to the parking lot, which will include a much bigger landing, a larger roof and a small brick courtyard.
In the years to come, we would like our future parishioners to be able to see a tangible project completed in this anniversary year and to see the many people that were involved with the church.
To that end, we are offering imprinted brick pavers for sale to be included in the finished project. Please see the sample brick located at the back of the church. Order forms are located in the back as well. Please provide completed forms, along with your check made payable to Mt. Gilead to Ruth or Gage Lightner (or place them in the offering plate/basket). If you would like to make any other contributions to the project, you may also indicate "Building Fund" on your offering envelope.
Please take a look at the drawings to help understand the project and how we expect the finished project to look. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding this project, please see Gage.

If you have a fond memory or picture, please share it with Claudia Clymer, Jess or Seth Bentsel, Tena Eshelman or Ruth Lightner.
"Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise Him in
His mighty heavens."
Psalm 150:1

Stamp Ministries - Used Stamp Donations

The Alliance Stamp Ministries (a retirement group in Florida) has been collecting used postage stamps since 1971 and selling them in bulk to stamp collecting organizations and dealers. This unique fundraiser allows the ministry to purchase Sunday School materials/literature to aid in spreading the gospel to Central and South American countries. To date, the ministry has raised over 1/2 million dollars!

In order for the organization to maximize the processing of the used stamps and their value, please follow the steps below before donating your stamps to the ministry.

1 Cut the envelope corner with the stamp still attached. Leave at least a 1/4 or 1/2” border of the envelope on all sides of the cancelled stamp.
2 Place the cut stamps into a plastic bag or envelope loosely. Please do not use rubber bands or paper clips on the stamps
3 Place the plastic bag or envelope in the collection bin located on the bookshelf in the back of the Sanctuary marked Alliance Stamp Ministries.

The above steps are important because the stamp collecting organizations do not accept any stamps that are torn or damaged. If you have any questions, please contact Jean Zellers.

Recycle Your Greeting Cards!

The Craft Class can always use more cards…especially everyday Greeting Cards. There is a RED basket at the back of the Sanctuary for any cards you would like to donate. Both Christmas and everyday cards are always welcome. Thank you!

The Perry County BACKPACK Program

is designed to meet the hunger needs of elementary aged children over the weekends when school resources are not available. In Perry County, approximately 20% of children 18 years of age and younger live in homes that struggle with food security. And an alarming 35-60% of elementary children qualify for free or reduced lunch-es. Our program is starting its second year and we currently feed 350 children each week across West Perry, Greenwood and Newport elementary schools. We are funded exclusively through grants and we rely on donations to supplement our inventory.
If you are interested in donating, please pick up a list of suggested items. These lists may be found on the table under the bulletin board. If you have any questions, please contact Christina Voorhees at pcbackpack@gmail.com. Thank You!!!!
